With the end of year fast approaching, it is a good time to take a moment and reflect on the events that characterised Invest in Lombardy’s 2016. Let us look back at the year that was through the prism of numbers, and then look ahead.
According to fDi Magazine (a division of the Financial Times Ltd), Lombardy has once again been able to emerge as one of the leading regions in the European context when it comes to attract foreign direct investments. In this respect, Invest in Lombardy has been a major protagonist: 142 foreign companies supported willing to explore the business opportunities Lombardy has to offer.
Invest in Lombardy successfully implemented promotional activities outside the Italian borders by actively participating in some of the most important events in the world, such as the Asian Financial Forum in January and the 2016 BIO International Convention in June, held in San Francisco. These accomplishments helped Invest in Lombardy in improving investment implementation strategy, which has been also enriched by the launch of the Invest in Lombardy Ambassadors project: an international network of more than 50 members across 19 countries.
2016 has also been a year of networking. Building upon previous experiences, Invest in Lombardy cemented the relationship with its 22 distinguished private partners providing the necessary technical expertise to all the investors interested in creating value, ideas and jobs in Lombardy.
The year we are leaving behind will be remembered as the one in which the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. At a time when cities and regions are emerging as essential actors in the world economy, Brexit will surely open up new possibilities for Milan and Lombardy in terms of economic growth. Invest in Lombardy will work harder than ever to promote Lombardy’s attractiveness to foreign investors.
The end of the year is also the time to set New Years’ resolutions. As Invest in Lombardy always did, we will show, explain and demonstrate foreign companies why they should invest in the region.
That’s all for 2016 Invest in Lombardy’s readers. See you in 2017.
