Lombardy Region: support for innovation

At SMAU Milan, Lombardy Region reaffirms its commitment on the innovation front.

The Institution pledges to win international competitiveness by allocating about €70 million for local startups and encouraging new entrepreneurs to establish their business in the region.

The package offers eight measures, including:

– The establishment of the €40 million Lombardy Venture Fund for co-investment operations with institutional players. The amount will be allocated in funds managed by professionals financing deeptech startups and scaleups (360 Capital, United Ventures and Indaco have joined the Fund).

– The refinancing of the €24 million Microcredit program (starting in 2024) aimed at SMEs that have been active in Lombardy for a maximum of five years, but also self-employed people who have started their business in the region for less than five years.

This year the Lombardy Region will host the 2023 edition of the National Innovation Award (PNI), to confirm the ever increasingly improvement prestige and importance gained by Lombardy in the field of innovation at national level.

The event, organized in collaboration with the Universities of Milano-Bicocca, Politecnico di Milano, Università Bocconi and Università Statale di Milano, will be held at Palazzo Lombardia on Thursday, November 30 and Friday, December 1, 2023. PNI is Italy’s most important and widespread Business Plan Competition that every year selects the best innovative business projects, winners of regional Start Cups.

The Region is therefore committed to being increasingly competitive and attractive, promoting initiatives, with the aim to facilitating businesses in the realization of ideas that can be made available to the entire Lombard entrepreneurial fabric.
